Tibetan American Community of Connecticut (TACC) Participates in Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Event on May 17th

The Tibetan American Community of Connecticut (TACC) participated in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Event on May 17th — marking only the second time TACC has taken part in such an event. TACC board members, members of Students for a Free Tibet (Connecticut), and community members came together to present the history of Tibet and shed light on the current situation under Chinese occupation.

The presentation highlighted the ongoing wave of self-immolations across Tibet as acts of protest against China’s repressive and genocidal policies. The group also raised awareness about Tibetan political prisoners and the continued enforced disappearance of the 11th Panchen Lama.

Hundreds of attendees engaged with the exhibit and learned about Tibet’s struggle for freedom.

We will continue to keep the Tibetan cause alive — and the movement strong — until we return to our homeland, Tibet, with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
